Profile

Terri worked in architecture and interior design until 1990. She turned to pottery as she was looking for a creative outlet with three dimensions. She first took lessons when she was living in Hong Kong, surrounded by oriental influences which may pop up occasionally in her work.

Since returning to England, she has set up her own studio, obtained the City & Guilds certificate in Ceramics, joined the Wey Ceramics Society and become their Workshop Secretary. She regularly takes part in Surrey Artists Open Studios and he work is exhibited in prestigious galleries throughout the UK.

Terri lives and works in East Clandon, Surrey.

Artist's Statement

My training in architecture helps to explain why I enjoy working in a 3-dimensional medium; clay has now taken over and pottery has become a passion. Sometimes ideas come fully formed into my head, sometimes I develop a piece directly in clay. At the moment most of my work is handbuilt; I enjoy the slower, more thoughtful pace of the process as opposed to working on the wheel.
