Profile

Born in 1952, Jean is a self-taught artist living and working in the South Hams of Devon. Painting started as a hobby but has gradually become more and more an important part of Jean's life. She is now a successful full-time artist. She has had several solo exhibitions and shows in various prestigious galleries across the south west. Her paintings are in collections both in the UK and abroad.

Artist's Statement

I work mainly in acrylic and watercolour. Early inspiration came from a trip to Venice where I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the architecture reflected in water. Since then my subject matter has broadened considerably, though the influence of Venice with its richness and decorative designs are still very much in evidence.
